3 Reasons to Move Forward Planning Your Wedding

Every person I have talked to this last month has struggled with the unique challenges brought on by the COVID pandemic in their own unique way. The changes brought on by this time are sure to have lasting effects in ways we can’t even imagine yet.

Despite having our collective focus shifted from whatever-we-were-doing-pre-COVID to well, THIS, hopefully the quarantine has also had a positive effect on our personal lives as well. From throwing ZOOM parties and discovering new ways to stay connected with loved ones near and far, to having less commute time due to working at home, or being inspired to help those who are immune deficient or food insecure – this has also been a time for growth and prioritizing what’s most important.

Now that we’ve had some time to adjust, it’s time to come out of our Netflix and junk food binge induced comas and figure out how to move forward.

If you were recently engaged, you may have put off planning your wedding because you didn’t know when it would be safe to plan. Or maybe you were just so overwhelmed you couldn’t even think about the wedding! We all needed time to adjust, but if you hold off any longer, it could have serious consequences. NOW is the perfect time to continue planning your wedding, and here are the top 3 reasons why:

Vendor Demand

Because so many weddings had to be rescheduled, there will be more weddings than usual in 2021 and the remainder of 2020, which means a higher demand on wedding vendors. Unfortunately, if you haven’t booked your venue or had to reschedule, your wedding may have to be pushed to a Friday or Sunday to accommodate everyone, and some weddings may have to be pushed way beyond the time of year you originally planned. (Will you have to change your colors because your spring wedding is now in the fall? Will guests have to request off for a Friday wedding? Is your favorite photographer even available?) You’re going to want to be on the ball when choosing your vendors and new date if you’re not already booked.

Time

Because we are living in uncertain times and have been exposed to so much change, it’s important that you make the most of your time while you have it. We don’t know yet when everyone will be asked to go back to their offices and recommit to the dreaded commutes we were so accustomed to. If you are lucky enough to have a couple extra hours a day right now, use it wisely!

Mental Health

Studies suggest that having something positive to look forward to decreases stress levels in the present moment. Knowing that the world will keep turning and one day we will reach a new type of normalcy is something to look forward to and help keep you grounded right now. Weddings represent time with family, love, connection, and celebration – and it’s all right around the corner. Having this to look forward to might be the thing that saves your mental health and distracts you from the constant stream of bad news.
